Diversity: Generational Gap |
7.00 |
$429.00 |
|
Description: Seeking the familiar is human. It is comfortable and reassuring. However, unilaterally rejecting the unfamiliar-- the different-- hobbles ourselves and society in devastating ways. Differences are a source of strength. They provide us a window into circumstances and situations that we could never hope to fathom on our own. We gain a perspective that otherwise would be invisible and unattainable.
Yet, one of the most human differences still divides us: age.
Aging and being amongst those from multiple generations is both natural and necessary. Those who came before have experiences to share. Those experiences unlock unseen paths. While those who are new may ask the questions no one else thought to ask. Blending the two are the keys to success as well as personal and communal growth.
How do we come to understand each generation, the perspectives they bring and how to synergize these walks of life? Its time to traverse the Generational Gap.

Inclusion: Going Beyond Diversity |
7.00 |
$429.00 |
|
Description: Inviting someone to join your team and then actually working with them are two separate things. How many of us have been part of teams where we felt like the outsider? We are only here because they were forced to put me on the team. Or worse, I feel invisible.
In recent years, the power of diversity has become clearer and clearer. We know that by being part of groups that bring different perspectives and walks of life to the table, we are able to achieve greater heights than sequestering ourselves inside of an echo chamber. We have taken the first steps by including those who do not look, sound, or think like us. However
Diversity is having a seat at the table. Inclusion is having a voice in the conversation.
It is not enough to have a diverse team. That diversity is for naught if team members feel scared, invisible, or unwanted. We can only reach greater heights of performance and community through active involvement. Inclusion is essential. Its time to begin the conversation on the difference between inclusion and diversity and find a path that not only encourages but desires all voices to be part of the conversation.

Unconscious Bias |
7.00 |
$429.00 |
|
Description: Are you in control or being controlled?
Imagine the hundreds of decisions we make in a day. How many of them do you choose for yourself, and how many of them are chosen for you without you even noticing? There is no malevolent machination at work. In fact, it is something far more basic and intrinsic to the human experience. Bias is our predisposition to make certain choices without a second thought. Many of these are benign: avoid touching hot objects or bundling up in the cold. While these prejudices assist with our survival, bias also brings about unfortunate, undesirable, and unintended consequences.
Unconscious bias, also known as implicit bias, is as part of the human condition as breathing, yet it can have devastating consequences with near-inescapable effects. Such bias compels us to only see evidence that supports our own conclusions, or wince when we hear non-Anglo sounding names. It can even compel someone to dismiss another persons point of view simply because they arent like us.
While some of these acts seem unthinkable, that is the insidious part of unconscious bias: you didnt think; you just did.
So, how? How do we discover our own unconscious bias-- our own blind spots-- and combat them? How do we grapple with the knee-jerk social stereotypes we unknowingly pigeonhole others into without a second thought?
Together, we will shed light not only on the most common unconscious bias and how they may form, but also tackle a system for bringing the unseen to the conscious mind so that we may choose after all.
