DB1000 - DB2 SQL for Everyone |
21.00 |
$1,800.00 |
|
Description: Come prepared to master Structured Query Language on the DB2 platform in this fast paced and hands-on course. The course begins with a discussion of relational concepts and terminology and quickly moves into a very practical discussion of data retrieval and manipulation using SQL. Each topic is reinforced with hands-on workshops. The workshops and examples in this course may be used across the DB2 family of products.
This class may be taken in conjunction with the 2-day DB1001 DB2 for z/OS Embedded SQL Programming class. The combined course is, DB1010 DB2 for z/OS SQL Application Programming.

|
Description: DB2 SQL and Application Programming is a 5 day course targeting the needs of programmers and developers writing applications that access data stored in the DB2 environment.
The presentation is an integrated mixture of lecture and workshop activities that introduce and reinforce the basic techniques and approaches to relational database technology as implemented in DB2. Topics covered include structure and manipulation of DB2 data, operational considerations in both on-line and batch environments; integrity; embedded programming techniques and preparation; and an introduction to performance analysis.
Material comprising the course is consistent with DB2 for z/OS Version 9. The workshop activities follow the classroom material and are designed for both topic reinforcement and practice. Programming topics are supported by workshops in both the on-line and batch environment, this includes precompiling, compiling, linking, and the various options of the DB2 BIND.
This course is a combination of DB1000 DB2 SQL for Everyone and DB1001 DB2 for z/OS Embedded SQL Programming.

DB1029: Exploiting Native SQL Stored Procedures on DB2 for z/OS |
21.00 |
$1,920.00 |
|
Description: One of the most anticipated new features of DB2 for z/OS was the Native SQL PL stored procedure. A key advantage is the ability to work entirely within the IBM Data Studio environment and accomplish DB2 development with no green screen. This course covers the mechanics of coding, testing and debugging and deploying these stored procedures.

DB1032: DB2 for z/OS SQL Optimization, Performance Tuning |
28.00 |
$2,450.00 |
|
Description: This class is designed to breakdown SQL statements in detail so the students understand in depth what the DB2 optimizer goes through in fulfilling an SQL request. Time will especially be spent breaking down SQL Joins and Subqueries in order to understand the fundamental issues associated with performance.
The class will address performance-related issues in relationship to database design, indexing, efficient and effective SQL queries, and the gathering of accurate statistical information for optimization. Students will come out of this class having a much better understanding of why certain optimizations are chosen, and what can be done to get DB2 to choose differently.
Much of the class will be in workshops where the students will write queries, execute DB2 Explains, and perform analysis on the information. Many of the workshops have the students rewrite and/or apply tuning statements to existing queries in order to get them to perform more efficiently. Students will know exactly what steps to take in getting poor performing SQL queries to execute more efficiently.

IBM: Db2 11.1 Quickstart for Experienced Relational DBAs (CL487G) |
28.00 |
$3,100.00 |
|
Description: This course teaches you to perform, basic and advanced, database administrative tasks using Db2 11.1. These tasks include creating and populating databases and implementing a logical design to support recovery requirements. The access strategies selected by the Db2 Optimizer will be examined using the Db2 Explain tools. Various diagnostic methods will be presented, including using various db2pd command options. Students will learn how to implement automatic archival for database logs and how to plan a redirected database restore to relocate either selected table spaces or an entire database. The REBUILD option of RESTORE, which can build a database copy with a subset of the tablespaces, will be discussed. We will also cover using the TRANSPORT option of RESTORE to copy schemas of objects between two Db2 databases. The selection of indexes to improve application performance and the use of SQL statements to track database performance and health will be covered. This course provides a quick start to Db2 database administration skills for experienced relational Database Administrators (DBA).
The lab demonstrations are performed using DB2 LUW 11.1 for Linux. For some lab tasks, students will have the option to complete the task using a DB2 command line processor, or using the graphical interface provided by IBM Data Server Manager.
