TechCred

Prepare your workforce with eligible technology credentials

Ohio TechCred may reimburse qualifying Ohio employers for eligible technology-focused credentials earned by qualifying W-2 employees. Reimbursement is subject to employer, employee, credential, training-provider, timing, documentation, and funding requirements established by the Ohio Department of Development.

Eligible employers may receive reimbursement of up to $1,000 per employee, per approved credential, with a maximum award of $30,000 per application period. The employer pays the eligible training costs and requests reimbursement after the employee earns the approved credential and the employer satisfies all grant and documentation requirements.

The Computer Workshop can help employers identify relevant training, provide course and credential documentation, enroll employees, and prepare records needed for the reimbursement process. Final eligibility, award, credential approval, and reimbursement decisions are made by the Ohio Department of Development.

What is TechCred?

TechCred helps Ohioans learn new skills and helps employers build a stronger workforce with the skills needed in a technology-infused economy. Many of these trainings can be completed online! These technology-focused credentials take a year or less to complete and prepare current and future employees for the technology jobs Ohio employers need.

TechCred Approved Credentials from TCW

With our courses, we can also provide college credit and continuing education credits (CPE) for organizations that require it to remain certified in your field. The Computer Workshop is listed as an eligible TechCred training provider for the credentials identified below. Provider and credential eligibility should be verified on the Ohio TechCred website before an employer submits an application.

Don't see a certification you need for your organization? You can submit a credential to the approved list.

*Credential and training-provider eligibility may change. Employers should verify both the credential and training provider on the Ohio TechCred website before applying.

Employer and employee eligibility: TechCred reimbursement is generally available to qualifying Ohio employers with a physical, non-residential Ohio business location for eligible Ohio-resident W-2 employees.
Independent contractors, 1099 workers, and public entities are not eligible under the current program guidelines. Employers should review the complete Ohio eligibility requirements before applying.

TCW can assist employers with identifying potentially eligible credentials, preparing training information, enrolling employees, and assembling provider documentation. Final eligibility, award, credential approval, and reimbursement decisions are made by the Ohio Department of Development.

Training for an approved credential must begin within the period permitted by the employer’s TechCred grant agreement and must be completed by the agreement’s end date. Training or costs incurred before award and execution of the grant agreement are undertaken at the employer’s risk.

Eligible expenses may include tuition, lab fees, manuals, textbooks, and certification costs, subject to program limits. Bundles, subscriptions, memberships, training libraries, conferences, software licenses, wages, travel, hardware, and equipment are not eligible. The employer must incur and pay the reimbursable cost.

The Computer Workshop is an independent training provider. Inclusion on an Ohio TechCred eligible-provider or credential list does not constitute endorsement or a guarantee of funding or reimbursement by the State of Ohio. Program requirements, eligible credentials, providers, award amounts, and application dates may change. Employers should confirm current requirements through the Ohio Department of Development before applying or incurring costs.

Maximizing Your Organization's Potential: Success through Funding Programs and Training

By Becky Anzalone

At The Computer Workshop, we are staunch advocates of the concept of continuous workplace training. Our commitment to this principle is unwavering, and we go to great lengths to ensure that organizations can access the training they need within their budget. We actively collaborate with numerous funding programs to make this a reality. Some of these programs include Unions, Educational and College Credit Reimbursement, and the Workforce Inventory of Education and Training (WEIT) alongside Ohio's TechCred.

Ohio's TechCred Program is a game-changer for businesses operating in today's tech-driven economy. It presents an invaluable opportunity to upskill both existing and prospective employees, equipping them with the latest technical competencies. This, in turn, empowers your workforce to make more substantial contributions toward your organization's overarching objectives. Eligible Ohio employers may be reimbursed for up to $1,000 per employee, per approved credential, with a maximum award of $30,000 per application period. Applications and awards are subject to Ohio TechCred eligibility requirements, available funding, and program approval.

We understand that navigating the TechCred Program can initially appear daunting. However, The Computer Workshop (TCW) is here to guide you through every step. Here's a breakdown of how we assist you:

  1. Matching Your Training Needs: TCW will help match your training requirements with the credentials that are already approved and available in the form of courses.

  2. Approval of New Courses: If the specific course you require is not already approved, we will collaborate with you to seek its approval within the program.

  3. Application Process Support: We will walk you through the intricacies of the online application process.

  4. Employee Enrollment: Once your application is approved, TCW will help you seamlessly enroll your employees in the relevant courses.

  5. Credential Verification: Upon the successful completion of your chosen courses, we'll ensure that you receive proof of the attained credential.

  6. Reimbursement Management: After you've received the necessary course completion documents, TCW will continue to be by your side, assisting you in tracking your reimbursements.
